Executives from 20 Cruise Lines Confirmed for Key CLIA Events

  • Early bird rate for 'Port & Destination Summit' ends on August 6
  • Plus, last remaining cabins for 'Summit at Sea' event available

July 30, 2018- Executives from 20 cruise lines have already confirmed for two key Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) events this autumn; the Port & Destination Summit, in Lisbon on September 17 and 18, and Summit at Sea, held onboard Royal Caribbean International's Symphony of the Seas SM from October 11 to 14.

There are key decision-makers from four cruise lines attending the Port & Destination Summit for the first time, including the yet-to-launch Virgin Voyages, plus Azamara Club Cruises, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, and Windstar Cruises.

During the opening general session at the Port & Destination Summit, there will be a speaker from outside the industry. David Beckett, an international pitch coach, will be taking to the stage with a keynote 'Pitch Perfect: Great Ideas Need A Voice – and a Great Pitch!'. This will be followed by a question and answer session with cruise line executives in which they'll explain what they look for when potential partners are pitching to them.

Bo Larsen, CLIA's senior vice-president, strategic partnerships, said: "I am delighted that we have an incredibly diverse range of cruise lines attending both these events, from all sectors of the cruise industry. I look forward to welcoming all our participants and continuing to strengthen the global cruise industry."

"Both the Summit at Sea and Port & Destination Summit offer unrivalled opportunities to connect with key industry players from various segments of our community and maximizes the impact of the invaluable knowledge our speakers and attendees possess."

The Port & Destination Summit, a unique platform for networking and growth for the port and destination community, takes place in Lisbon on September 17 and 18, prior to Seatrade Cruise Med, the largest cruise industry gathering in Europe. More than 45 cruise line executives are expected to participate in interactive sessions on a range of topics, including itinerary planning, port operations, and shore excursions.

Larsen added: "We featured a two-hour workshop with pitch coach David Beckett at the Executive Partner Conference in London earlier this year, which was very highly rated by participants. As a result, we are expanding David's presence and are delighted to welcome him to the Port & Destination Summit in Lisbon."

"The Port & Destination Summit is a diverse and productive platform for CLIA Executive Partners and Cruise Lines to discuss innovative changes and the future of the cruise industry," said Grant Holmes, global vice-president cruise solutions of Inchcape Shipping Services, one of the event's moderators. "I look forward to moderating an innovative and engaging session of interest for the Port and Destination Summit attendees."

Summit at Sea will take place from October 11 to 14 2018, onboard the largest ship in the world, Royal Caribbean International's Symphony of the Seas SM. More than half the cabins sold in the first 10 days after going on sale, however there are still a few available to be booked.

Adam Goldstein, deputy chairman of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., and Stuart Leven, vice president, EMEA, and managing director of RCL Cruises Ltd., will host this year's event, bringing together key decision makers and subject matter experts.

The four-day summit is a unique and immersive educational experience in an informal business environment, comprising engaging discussions on issues of importance to our industry, complemented by port visits and opportunities to network with industry colleagues.
